What is required of a member?
Being a member involves a certain level of commitment and experience as we don't want team members to become part of the problem when dealing with an incident. We are different to some cave rescue teams in that you do not have to be part of the land search side of rescue - so you can chose to only be called out for cave related incidents.
So what do we expect?
- Already be an experienced caver with all your own caving kit - unfortunately we are unable to provide personal caving kit
- Try to attend all four training sessions a year
- Live close enough to the Forest of Dean and be available to be called out to respond to situations as they arise - we understand that you may not be able to make every call out
- Keep yourself current with caving - to do this we strongly encourage you to be a member of one of the caving clubs who regularly cave in the Forest of Dean. Details can be found on our links page
- Be willing to learn new skills and share your experience with our current team members
